Bronze, Brass & Copper

Going Beyond the Traditional Art Uses

Though a common choice of sculptors and artists, bronze and copper castings also serve many commercial and industrial applications. With varying wall thicknesses and the ability to convert multiple part assemblies into a single part, the design possibilities are limitless.

PCT offers bronze and copper investment castings in a wide variety of alloys, including silicone bronze and aluminum bronze. We specialize in casting highly complex parts in the 0 to 20 lbs range, and are equipped to produce castings up to 100+ lbs.

  • Intricate, near-net shape parts achievable without machining
  • Easily convert multiple parts into single assemblies
  • Thin walls for weight reduction opportunities
  • Surface texture of 125 rms or better
  • Tolerances within +/- .005 inches per linear inch
  • Highly complex dimensional geometry

From concept to completion, PCT ensures that each bronze, copper, or brass casting meets the form, fit, and function of your design.

FORM – UNIQUE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BRONZE AND COPPER

Bronze and copper investment castings benefit from high fatigue & corrosion resistance, strength similar to steel, and high ductility. Their high machinability and versatile mechanical properties allow for endless design flexibility.

FIT – HOW WE MAKE BRONZE AND COPPER CASTINGS WORK FOR YOU

All bronze alloy types, including silicon and aluminum bronze, have the unique property of expanding during the casting process, completely filling the mold and eliminating voids and surface defects.

Silicon and aluminum bronze are self-lubricating when subjected to pressure and friction. Copper retains up to 95% of electrical conductivity, providing an optimal solution for electrical transmission applications.

FUNCTION – REAL-WORLD BRONZE AND COPPER CASTING EXAMPLES

Bronze, silicone bronze, and aluminum bronze castings have traditionally been associated with art, but are quickly making the transition to industrial applications. Due to bronze's self lubricating properties, it is commonly used for high-speed moving parts such as bearings, sleeving, fans, and turbines.

PCT bronze castings are currently being used throughout the US Military as part of the Humvee turret housing.
